LD48 Early Post Mortem Before Bed


So this is my 11th LD in a row and boy was this a struggle! Besides struggling with the theme more than normal, I also set out to improve many elements I normally skip. For this jam here's some of the things I WANTED to do:

  • Use Addressables to do level loading
  • Use FMOD for sounds and music
  • Make, Rig, and Animate a 3D character
  • Focus on overall graphical fidelity
  • Launch with at least one music track

That's a LOT of stuff so where did we actually end up? Addressables were removed last minute and replaced with Prefabs simply because I cannot figure out how to actually build the addressable package and then build the game, when I build normally the Addressable ends up being null and not loading. Until I figure out how to actually build them I guess Addressables are out of the equation. 

Besides that I hit most things I was looking towards. FMOD did cause me a bit of a headache but overall it worked nicely. I did make a character mesh and rig it but I didn't have time for texturing which is a bummer. I think I did a good job at making the game look good, lighting, fog, lots of animations and particles, overall it's a very good looking game. 

Finally I did get one..... " " "Song" " " in, though I'm not exactly a musical person, I think the one track I came up with kinda fits in it's kinda chill droning vibe sound, though it's not really a song as much some random synth sounds, that said, this is the first game I released that had music made by me so it's something. 

ANYWAY I'm going to pass out it's 9pm and I've been up since 3am. Gonna get some sleep and rate games tomorrow!
